Bonjour

Sorry but that is almost the full extent of my French.I am hoping that all my European friends are more educated than me, and can understand English.

My intention is to build the Tornado using a Villiers 3T 325cc two stroke twin engine. This engine is my choice because I have had it in my shed for about 10 years. It is brand new and has never been run yet. My concern is that it may not be powerfull enough for the craft. The rated horsepower is 18hp. I am considering running a multiblade fan directly from the crankshaft.

I would apreciate any advise which anyone can give

Merci bien

Hi All

A little about me. I was born in England and have lived in Australia for the last 36 years. I have lived in Perth, Western Australia for 23 years now. I can vividly remember, as an 11year old, the first Channel crossing by the SRN1. Ever since, I have dreamed of having my own hovercraft. I guess I now have the time to realise my dream.

A correction first. The weight of my engine is 32kg not 23 as stated previously. The engine is a parallel twin from 1963. Originally built for micro-light cars with a reversing electric starter. I am working on the ports and exhaust system to increase power and torque at hopefully 1000rpm less than std.

For Pascal. I have re-drawn the original skirt plans for clarity in Autocad. It is my intention to follow your plans fully. My concern with weight is that here I can only obtain 9mm and 6mm plywood. Obviously adding to the craft weight. I may, as you say, have to use a separate lift fan. We will see!

Hi Tezza !

G'day there !
Nice to know you redrawn the skirt in Autocad, perhaps you could be keen to share your file with Air de Glisse readers ?

Your engine sounds heavy for few HP but dont worry for now, just go forward.

Keep enjoying hovercrafting !

Dany

Hi Pascal etc.

Regards

hi tezza,

Goog idea sew and glue your PVC.

For light plywood :fiber glass to the angle and
"DO NOT STEP HERE" for the large panel wink
