Bonjour

Sorry but that is almost the full extent of my French.I am hoping that all my European friends are more educated than me, and can understand English.

My intention is to build the Tornado using a Villiers 3T 325cc two stroke twin engine. This engine is my choice because I have had it in my shed for about 10 years. It is brand new and has never been run yet. My concern is that it may not be powerfull enough for the craft. The rated horsepower is 18hp. I am considering running a multiblade fan directly from the crankshaft.

I would apreciate any advise which anyone can give

Merci bien

Pascal  thx very much for your advise and opinion.

My friend offers me an Honda Engine GX 390M - see specification.

I wonder if this engine can be mounted instead of my Suzuki?? - it seems to me that 13 HP is too little.

Greets Janek,

take Pascall's advice,

my observations of your craft and video are,

The engine is not one that is suited to the craft, too heavy for the power for the area as you just found. As you already had the engine it is the deciding factor for which craft you should put it on, a large footprint and low power requirement efficient design is required, probably 16 feet as a minimum would be good. A sevtec design has the qualities you need for that engine. You may be able to use your fan for the lift fan with some diameter reduction. Do not alter the sevtec plan in any way what so ever.

Your Tornado pointu hull needs larger diameter fan and lighter 50hp engine on it, then it will fly much easier, or add 600mm to the length and 300mm to the width. Cut along the centre and increase the cockpit width. Cut behind the engine and add the 600mm length, Keep the engine the same distance from the front as you have now. Pascall can suggest if the fan can move back with the back air chamber, or just make rear air chamber longer and add floatation inside.

Hello yamah,

Your words are absolutely right - thx a lot.

I have the same conclusions after two tests which I made.
I do not know if you noticed but my Tornado is enlarged due to original plans.  At this moment it has 3,3 m lenght i 2,05 m width.
Despite this fact Tornado is to much, much  heavy with Suzuki Swift engine.

Now I would not like to enlarge its lenght and width.
At this moment it is  huge quite enough. (problems with transportation)

My plan is to rebuild my hull on modified sevtec system.

I am planning to use two light engines (eg.Honda, Tecumseh) instead of one Suzuki and also use two separate impellers.

For lift an Multiwing  500-560 mm impeller with 6 HP engine.
For thrust  1150-1250 mm  propeller ( two blade) with 13-15 HP engine.

Bag without holes.

Ça ne marchera pas.

Vous n'écoutez même pas les conseils qu'on vous donne.
J'abandonne et vous souhaite bon courage pour la suite.
